A 61-year-old Bulgarian has declared an income of BGN 13.6M for 2013 from property sales, the National Revenue Agency informed.
April 30 is the deadline for submitting of annual tax declarations for 2013. The fine for those who fail to file the statements on time can reach BGN 500.

Bulgaria's government has allocated BGN 26,732,642 from the state budget for unforeseen and urgent expenses for the prevention, control and overcoming the impacts of disasters.
Bulgarians Saved BGN 856 M in Q1 2014
Bulgarian households saved BGN 856 M in the first quarter of this year, shows data of the Central Bank (BNB).
Compared to Q1 2013, the savings increased by 29.7%. Broken down by months, in January the people put BGN 650 M in the banks, in February – BGN 114 M and in March – BGN 92 M.

Bulgaria's Tobacco Growers Set for Protest
Bulgarian tobacco growers are to stage a protest on Friday demanding for a new distribution of the BGN 100 M state subsidies, which vary for different sorts of tobacco.
Growers have said that "double standards" were being applied by the government in allocating the grants, which are a little over BGN 2 per kg for some types and BGN 3 per kg for other types of tobacco.

Bulgarians Spent BGN 700 M Around Easter
Bulgarians spent BGN 700 M in the two weeks preceding Easter, shows data of the National Revenue Agency (NRA).
The information was gathered by the cash registers of hotels, guest houses, restaurants and bars only.
The sum is smaller than last year, when the bank holidays around Easter and St. George's Day (May 6) were merged.

Bulgaria's Debt Was EU's Second-Lowest in 2013
The debt of Bulgaria amounted to BGN 14.733 B last year, as the latest statistics show.
The account deficit in 2013 was BGN 1.178 B, or 1.5% of the country's economy, according to data by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) cited by Expert.bg and confirmed by Eurostat.

Retail Chains Contributed BGN 1 B in VAT to Bulgaria's Budget
The entry of the modern retail chains in Bulgaria brought mostly benefits to the country's economy, shows a survey of the Institute for Market Economy (IME).
Their presence in the country “legalized” the turnovers of the retail trade, and brought BGN 5 B to the economy in the period 2004 – 2013. In the same period those chains paid BGN 1 B in VAT.
Debts of Bulgaria's NEK Grew by a Quarter in 2013
Bulgaria's National Electricity Company (NEK) owed 24% more at the end of 2013 than it did the previous year.
As of December 2013, its debt reached BGN 3.2 B (EUR 1.6 B), according to the newspaper Kapital Daily, which cites official data provided by the company.

Outsourcing Industry in Bulgaria To Garner Up To 3% of GDP
Within the next three years the outsourcing industry in Bulgaria would bring up to 3% of the country's GDP, or around BGN 2 B, expect experts.
By the end of next year the turnover of this industry in Bulgaria was around BGN 1 B, said Vice Prime Minister Daniela Bobeva who took part in a round table, organized by the Bulgarian Outsourcing Association.
Bulgaria To Spend Another BGN 35 M On Refugees
Bulgaria's Government approved the spending of another BGN 35 M on dealing with the refugee crisis, reports Sega daily.
Thus the total sum would reach BGN 62 M.
The new sum includes the completion of the construction of the 35 km fence at the border between Bulgaria and Turkey, as well as improvements of the living conditions in the refugee centers and their expansion.
