Bodrum among top global destinations in National Geographic’s 2025 list
Bodrum, a renowned holiday destination in the western province of Muğla, has been named a finalist in the prestigious National Geographic magazine's "Best of the World 2025: Readers' Choice" selection.
The announcement, made on National Geographic Travel's Instagram account, which boasts more than 46.5 million followers, highlighted Bodrum's increasing global appeal.

'Refugees' in Aegean turn out to be Colombian tourists
Coast Guard teams in the southwestern Turkish district of Bodrum searched Colombian tourists on Oct. 26 after suspecting that a family in a tour boat might be refugees trying to cross the Aegean Sea, Doğan News Agency has reported.
Tourists on the boat spotted people who were swimming with life jackets near the boat, believing that they were migrants.
82 migrants captured in Bodrum, as weather conditions worsen
Some 82 migrants in four inflatable boats, in attempt to illegally reach the Greek island of Kos, have been captured by Coast Guard teams on Nov. 8.
The weather conditions and current, along with the high number of boat passengers, have raised risks during the journeys. Despite the risks, some boats and their passengers have survived the journey.

Eight people were wounded and dozens of cars were swept away in flooding after heavy rain on the evening of Sept. 22 in Turkey's Aegean resort town of Bodrum, just a day before the start of the Eid al-Adha holiday on Sept. 24.
The rain began pouring on the town's neighborhoods on the night of Sept. 22 and quickly made streets and avenues unpassable.
