An American residing in Burgas was involved in a car crash on the Trakia highway, resulting in significant damage to his vehicle. A 4-year-old girl died after an accident in Pleven region, the Ministry of the Interior reports. The accident happened around 21:35 last night on a third-class road after the village of Opanec in the direction of the town of Dolna Mitropolia.

The 30-year-old driver of the car in which the child was traveling lost control, the car left the roadway and hit a roadside tree.

The National Assembly increased the penalties for road deaths, setting a maximum sentence of 5 to 12 years in prison in particularly serious cases. With the finally adopted amendments to the Penal Code, the deputies recorded that if the death was caused after the use of alcohol and drugs in particularly severe cases, the punishment is imprisonment from 10 to 20 years.

Group calls for complete ban on drink driving

The national association of driving instructors has asked authorities to abolish limits for drink driving, claiming that driving under the influence of any amount of alcohol is dangerous.
According to Greece's highway code, it's illegal to drive with a blood alcohol content of more than 0.5 milligrams per liter or a breath alcohol content of more than 0.25mg/l.

BELGRADE -- Upcoming amendments to the Law on Traffic Safety will change the blood alcohol content (BAC) limit for drivers, the Serbian interior minister has announced.

This limit is currently at 0.3 milligrams per milliliter, and will be reduced to 0.2 mg/ml, Nebojsa Stefanovic has said.

The blood alcohol content (BAC) of the driver, S.B., was 5.19 milligrams per milliliter at the time of the arrest.

The legal limit in Serbia is 0.3 mg/ml.
