California bursts into ‘super bloom’ after wet winter

An explosion of oranges, yellows, purples and whites has covered California's hillsides, as a rare "super bloom" bursts into life in the wake of a very wet winter.

Vast stretches of countryside that spend months of the year as a muted, dry brown have been transformed into a carpet of color that can be seen from space.

Bloomsday 2020 Becomes Virtual and Sofia Becomes Dublin in One Day

Bloomsday is celebrated every 16th June by book lovers around the world. Named after Leopold Bloom, the central character in James Joyce's path-breaking novel 'Ulysses', it marks Thursday 16th June 1904, the date on which the novel follows the life and thoughts of Bloom, and a host of other characters, as he makes his way around his native city of Dublin, the capital of Ireland.

David Walliams may have recently split up from his former wife, Lara Stone, but he still spreads laughter. The comedian intended to enter the Guinness Book of World Records on Friday, gathering 55 kisses in 30 seconds.

 

The reasoning behind the “net traffic” he received, however, is not his attempt, but one of the kisses he exchanged.
