Events in Ukraine and Gaza weighed heavily on the mood at the local bourse on Friday, inflicting notable stock losses that nearly wiped out the week’s benchmark gains.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 1,158.24 points, declining 2.69 percent from Thursday’s 1,190.27 points. On a weekly basis it grew by 0.29 percent.

One more day of mixed fortunes for Greek stocks left the benchmark virtually unchanged, as the gains posted by small- and mid-caps were offset by moderate losses recorded by the majority of blue chips on Thursday. This interest in the periphery points to ... ...
