More than 200 dogs live in terrible conditions in the shelter in the Vrabnitsa district in Sofia. This is actually adjacent to the clinic building where they send neutered dogs with post-surgery wounds to recover from anesthesia. They are crammed into 30 cells, dirty, without water, light and space.

Man in Thessaloniki arrested over dog abuse
An 87-year-old man was arrested and fined on Tuesday after he was caught on video abusing one of his dogs in the region of Loutron Langada in Thessaloniki.
He was arrested following a lawsuit filed by a representative of an animal rights group Syniparcho (Coexist) and is to appear before a prosecutor on Wednesday.

World’s ugliest dog: Mr Happy Face
With a tuft of punk-style hair and a tongue sticking perennially out the side of his mouth, a dog named Mr Happy Face has been crowned the world's homeliest pooch.
This 17-year-old Chinese crested defeated nine competitors Friday in the World's Ugliest Dog Contest, a decades-old event held annually in Petaluma, California.

Greece’s Jewish community extends wishes to healthcare workers, Covid-19 patients
In its message for this year's Pessach (Passover), the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece (KIS) on Tuesday extended its wishes to healthcare professionals and those who have contracted Covid-19.
"Our thoughts are with our fellow citizens who are sick and we pray so that God helps them 'pass over' from the loneliness of pain to the joy of life," KIS said in a press release.
717 Dogs from Municipal Shelters in Sofia Have Been Adopted since the Beginning of the Year
From the beginning of 2019 to the end of October, 717 dogs from the shelters of municipal enterprise Ecoravnovesie found a new home, for comparison, for the entire 2018, 600 dogs were adopted. During the same period, 2,260 dogs were neutered, and 286 dogs were treated in the municipal veterinary clinic, 374 backyard dogs were neutered, the Sofia Municipality press office reported.

The Benaki Museum's Pireos Street annex presents "Fred Boissonas in Egypt," an exhibition of photographs taken by the late Swiss photographer on two visits to Egypt: the first in 1929 on the invitation of King Fuad I and the second in 1933, where he followed the route of the Israelites described in "Exodus" to Mount Sinai. Opening hours are Thursday & Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
