Greek PM A. Tsipras rejects 3 proposals, but agrees to 50,000 more refugees
Three proposals to deal with the refugee crisis were put forth on the table during a mini-Summit of 10 EU leaders that had been called for by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

Never-ending child deaths in the Aegean (heart-wrenching pics from Lesvos)
An infant, a young child aged 6 years of age, and a woman drowned on Sunday in their attempt to reach the coast of the Greek isle of Lesvos at dawn on Sunday. Authorities report that a dinghy filled to the brim with 50 undocumented migrants and refugee battled with winds of seven on the Beaufort scale before their vessel crashed into a rocky area at Kara Tepe, north of the island and capsized.
15 refugees missing in a new boat capsize
A small boat carrying refugees sank northeast of Samos island in the sea area.
According to information, the boat capsized for unknown reasons and dozens of refugees fell in the water.
16 refugees were rescued by a Turkish fishing boat, while 15 more are missing.

UNHCR Condemns Incident with Migrant near Bulgaria's Border
The UN Refugee Agency UNHCR has strongly condemned the shooting which resulted in the death of a migrant near Bulgaria's border with Turkey, its local spokesperson, Boris Cheshirkov, has announced.

Boat with refugees hit Coast Guard patrol vessel
An old wooden boat that was carrying refugees and migrants to Lesvos island hit at 11:30 on Thursday a Coast Guard patrol vessel due to rough seas and strong winds blowing in the area.
The accident was recorded half nautical mile north of Molyvos, Lesvos island. The Coast Guard rescued 31 refugees while, according to information, 8 persons are still missing.

Migrant woman, baby and child drown trying to reach Greece
A woman, a young girl and a baby have died after a boat carrying migrants and refugees to the Greek island of Lesbos sank, the ministry of shipping said on Oct. 14.
The three victims' bodies were found by divers under the capsized vessel, the ministry said.
Merkel for Greece: “Traffickers do whatever they want in Aegean Sea”
German Chancellor Angela Merkel talked to Bild about the refugee crisis and the actions required to address the problem.
“In the Aegean sea, at sea borders between Greece and Turkey, traffickers do whatever they want,” the German chancellor said.
