Two Indicted in Bulgaria over Nuclear Plant Deal with Russia

The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has formally indicted two former state officials over their move to sign an unfavourable contract with Russian company Atomstroyexport in 2007.

The document, under which Bulgaria procures equipment for the Belene nuclear power plant (NPP) project, was signed without the government's consent.

Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov has received a letter from the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker informing him about the results of the work of the Commission on ensuring the livelihood and the creation of normal living conditions for refugees in Turkey.

Bulgarian PM Orders Appointment of Border Employees

By order of Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov, the Interior Ministry will launch a procedure for the appointment of employees with labour contracts to assist in border control and the defence of Bulgaria's frontiers.

The newly-appointed employees will be granted powers to apprehend persons who have violated the border regime and to turn them over to competent authorities.
