A spokesman for the Indian Ministry of Defense said that it was planned to fire one short- or medium-range missile at a fast-moving aerial target, reports India Today.

India has received a new batch of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia, India Today reported, citing high-ranking sources.

"According to sources, the batch of S-400 missile systems was delivered by ship and is already in service. Parts of the missile system arrived by air and sea and were quickly deployed to their designated places," the newspaper said.

Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov has successfully test-fired the Tsirkon hypersonic missile against a surface target at the range of over 350 km and the flight speed reached 7 Mach, the Russian Defense Ministry announced.

India's offensive capacity has received a big boost as Russia has agreed to help New Delhi develop a new generation of 'Brahmos' missiles with 600km-plus striking range. The Indian Defence Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the new generation missiles could easily hit protected targets with pinpoint accuracy.
