BELGRADE - The decision by the Croatian Constitutional Court to overturn the sentence against Branimir Glavas, found guilty of war crimes in the "garage" and "duct tape" cases, is shameful and scandalous, head of the Coalition of Refugee Associations in Serbia Miodrag Linta has said.

The Croatian constitutional court on Monday revoked the ruling convicting Glavas, who was found guilty in two cases of war crimes against Serb civilians in the city of Osijek in 1991-92, and ordered new proceedings against him.

War crimes conviction against Croat politician canceled

ZAGREB -- Croatian Constitutional Court has overturned the ruling that the country's Supreme Court passed against Branimir Glavas.

Glavas is a former Croatian police official, army general, and member of parliament who was found guilty for committing war crimes against Serb civilians in the town of Osijek in 1991.

The opposition Croatian Democratic Union party invited Branimir Glavas, who is in jail in Bosnia, to events to mark the 15th anniversary of the death of former president Franjo Tudjman.

General Branimir Glavas, currently serving a war crimes sentence in Bosnia, has been sent to Croatia to pursue his libel case against the mayor of Osijek, who called him a war profiteer.
