Croatians flock to Slovenia to shop cheaper

After Croatia adopted the euro on 1 January, Croatians are increasingly flocking to Slovenia to do their shopping, finding deals to be cheaper across the border. The eastern town of Brežice is one especially popular destination.

Croatian customers have been keeping Brežice store owners busy in the first month of the new year as their numbers increased significantly.

Brežice festival hosting six early music concerts

Brežice – Brežice Seviqc, an internationally renowned festival of early music, will get under way at the Devil’s Tower near spa town Dolenjske Toplice on Friday with a concert by Serbian lutenist Andrej Jovanić. The festival will take place at picturesque venues in Dolenjske Toplice, Brežice, Šmartno pri Litiji, and Loška Dolina.

Water tower in eastern Slovenia to become tourist spot

Brežice – A hundred-years-old water tower in the eastern town of Brežice, a prominent landmark in the region, will be renovated and turned into a sightseeing spot and tourist venue. The investment is estimated at EUR 1.9 million.

The renovation project has been given a green light recently and will aim to upgrade one of the two oldest water towers in the country.
