Eurofighter CEO confirms Berlin’s block of Türkiye’s purchase

Eurofighter's CEO has stated that Germany blocked Türkiye's attempt to acquire dozens of the German fighter jets.

Ankara sought to procure up to 50 aircraft, but these attempts were thwarted by Germany, Giancarlo Mezzanatto stated during a press briefing at the Farnborough International Airshow in the U.K. on July 28.

Turkey’s KAAN fighter jet conducts first flight

Turkey's KAAN, its first national combat aircraft, completed its first flight on Wednesday, part of the country's efforts to upgrade its air force.

NATO member Turkey launched its TF-X project to produce a national combat aircraft in 2016. Turkish aerospace firm TUSAS signed a deal with Britain's BAE Systems worth $125 million in 2017 to develop the next-generation fighter jet.

BAE agrees to buy Ball Aerospace for $5.55 billion

British military equipment maker BAE Systems announced yesterday that it had agreed to buy U.S. company Ball Aerospace from the Ball Corporation for about $5.55 billion.

BAE said it hoped to complete the acquisition of the aerospace firm in the first half of 2024, with an anticipated tax credit taking the "underlying economic consideration for the business" to $4.8 billion.

BAE profit jumps defense spending boosted

British military equipment maker BAE Systems yesterday announced a 57 percent jump in net profits for the first half of this year as government defense spending increases amid the war in Ukraine.

Profit after tax increased to 965 million pounds ($1.2 billion) in the six months to the end of June compared with 615 million pounds in the first half of last year, BAE said in a statement.

Turkish-British joint venture to develop engine control systems for German business

BNA, a recently established joint venture between Turkey's Nurol Holding and the United Kingdom's BAE Systems, signed a deal with Germany-based AES Aerospace Embedded Solutions on May 10 to develop and make electronic engine control systems for the company.
