PM tours construction site for IKEA's first Serbia store

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Friday visited the construction site of the first IKEA department store in Serbia, in Bubanj Potok, near Belgrade.

IKEA is a development project, not only for Belgrade, Mladenovac and Sopot, but for Smederevo, Smederevska Palanka and Pozarevac, all the way to Velika Plana, he said, announcing more investments in that part of the country.

Ground is broken for IKEA's first Serbian store

Sweden's IKEA on Thursday started building its first Serbian store, with a groundbreaking ceremony near Bubanj Potok, on the outskirts of Belgrade.

IKEA's Country Manager for South-East Europe Stefan Vanoverbeke said on the occasion that the store would represent "a great success" for the company, noting that Serbia was "important for IKEA, and has been in its plans since the 1990s."

IKEA to open first store in Serbia in summer of next year

IKEA has launched preparatory works on its first store in Serbia, IKEA Regional Development Director Vladislav Lalic said on Wednesday.

At a roundtable titled “Consumer Rights: Challenge or Chance for Brand and Company”, he underlined that preparatory works had begun, as well as works on the dislocation of the toll booths in Bubanj Potok, and added he expected no more surprises.
