Amphipolis builders ‘took measures against tomb raiders’
As works get under way at a huge burial mound at Ancient Amphipolis to structurally reinforce the site, the Culture Ministrys general secretary Lina Mendoni indicated on Tuesday that those who built the massive tomb had taken measures to avert tomb raiders.
Tighter security ordered at Amphipolis tomb
Regional authorities in Central Macedonia, where archaeologists are excavating a large burial mound that has sparked intense media interest and captivated the publics imagination have asked the government to increase security at the site. The request was made during a meeting on Thursday between Governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas and Public Order Minister Vassilis Kililias.

Turkish man kills fiancée after learning she was not a virgin
A 19-year-old man has killed his fiancée after learning that she was not a virgin during a trip to the western province of Sakarya.
The murderer, identified only as K.A., went to the district Police Department in Istanbulâs Beylikdüzü district on July 8 to confess that he had murdered his fiancée, N.T., and buried her in a Sakarya forest on July 6.
