Construction of new central intercity bus station at Eleonas given green light
The Environment and Energy Ministry has given the green light for the construction of a new central station for intercity buses in the Eleonas district of Athens. The project received approval after the environmental terms were approved.
Passenger capacity in public transport increased to 65 pct
The maximum passenger capacity on all public transport in Greece as well as intercity buses (KTEL) is increased to 65 percent from the current 50 percent, according to a joint ministerial decision issued on Tuesday.
The decision will remain in place until June 14.
One dead, two injured in truck-bus collision on national road
One person was killed and two injured on Monday morning in a road accident involving a a truck and a long-distance KTEL bus on the Athens-Lamia national highway, near Inofyta.
According to the police, both vehicles were moving in the direction of Athens when the accident happened at the highway's 60th kilometre. It also said the KTEL bus had no passengers.
Travel discounts for people with mobility problems
People with mobility problems who are permanent residents of Attica will be granted special travel passes that will enable them to travel on intercity buses (KTEL) with a 50 percent discount as of Monday.

Afghan national arrested over Votanikos killing
Police have arrested a 24-year-old Afghan national believed to have killed an 18-year-old compatriot in the Athens district of Votanikos last week, it was reported on Monday.
The victim had been found with stab wounds in the middle of the street.

Girl, 9, in intensive care after being hit by KTEL bus near Serres
A nine-year-old girl was being treated for serious head injuries in the intensive care unit of Thessaloniki's Ippokrateio Hospital on Monday after being hit by a KTEL intercity bus.
Human bones found near bus station in Nafpaktos
Human bones were found on Thursday afternoon at a dumping ground near the KTEL intercity bus terminal in the town of Nafpaktos, western Greece, a local news website reported.
Officers cordoned off the area and collected the bones which were then sent to a forensics expert in Patra. The website did not specify who made the discovery and alerted police.

Makeshift bomb goes off at Athens intercity bus terminus
A makeshift bomb consisting of four gas canisters exploded at a KTEL intercity bus terminal in downtown Athens in the early hours of Tuesday.
The explosion occurred at around 2 a.m. at the bus station on the corner of central Patission and Alexandras avenues, after unknown assailants placed the makeshift bomb in a bus.
Athens-Corinth highway reopens; Proastiakos running as usual
Police reopened the Athens-Corinth national highway on Tuesday morning, which had been closed to traffic due to a fire that broke out on Monday in nearby woodland that blanketed the area in thick smoke and ash.
Authorities also said that service has resumed as normal on the Proastiakos suburban railway and on KTEL Intercity buses running between the Peloponnese and the mainland.
KTEL bus struck by lightning near Alexandroupolis
A long-distance KTEL bus was completely burned on Saturday evening when it was hit by lightning outside the village of Monastiraki, located near the Greek-Turkish border, in the regional unit of Evros.
According to local website e-evros.gr, the bus was travelling from Alexandroupolis to Orestiada when it was hit by a lightning bolt.
