A freight train crosses country, East-West, from Constanta to Curtici, in 7-12 days
The average speed of freight trains in Romania is of 16 km / h, and the transit between Constanta (southeast) and Curtici (west) takes between 7 and 12 days, based on the quantity transported, reveal the conclusions of a study done by the Railway National Surveillance Council (CNSDF), within the Competition Council, sent to AGERPRES on Monday.
Sun Trains to start off new season; 40 trains to shuttle tourists to seashore, Danube Delta
The Sun Trains will start off today a new season, with more than 40 trains to provide, until September 15, connections from all over Romania to the Black Sea coast and the Danube Delta, according to the CFR Calatori national passenger railway carrier.
Romania Jails Former Railway Chief for Fraud
A Romanian court on Wednesday jailed Mihai Necolaiciuc, a former manager of the Romanian Railways Company, CFR, for ten years for abuse of office and embezzlement. Two other former railway officials were jailed for eight years in the same case.
The decision is not final and can be appealed.

CFR Calatori launches Seaside Trains
CFR Calatori (e.n. The CFR division dedicated to passenger travel) is marking the opening of the summer season 2015 by launching the Seaside Trains to link the capital city with the Romanian seaside (Black Sea shore), in two hours, without any other stops in between, reads a release of the company to AGERPRES on Thursday.

Romania switches to Daylight Saving Time on night from Saturday to Sunday, timetable of trains, unchanged
The switch to Daylight Saving Time, on the night from Saturday to Sunday, does not change the current timetables of trains, CFR informs on Thursday.

Romanian Rail Company Axes Third of Staff
Romania's state-run rail freight carrier, CFR Marfa, has laid off around 2,296 employees in order to cut costs.
The process of shedding about a third of the company workforce started in July and will be completed by the end of December, when the final 200 workers are to be made redundant.
