Türkiye marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Türkiye, which embraced many Jews fleeing the Nazi atrocities during World War II, continues to be a safe haven for millions of people who have been persecuted in different parts of the world today, the Turkish Foreign Ministry has said on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Parliament remembers the Holocaust
The Hellenic Parliament honored the memory of the victims of the Holocaust ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Thursday evening by displaying the slogan "We remember" on its facade with a photograph of prisoners in a Nazi concentration camp. January 27 marks the 78th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Winter break begins for nearly 19 million students
Nearly 19 million students in Türkiye, studying in preschools, primary, secondary and high schools, have begun their two-week half-term break after completing their first semester and receiving their mid-term report cards on Jan. 20.
The first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year started on Sept. 12, 2022, and students and teachers will return to classes on Feb. 6.
