PM to visit Canada, finalize purchase of firefighting planes
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will travel to Canada later this week, where he will finalize a deal to purchase seven DHC-515 Firefighters, the newest water bombers built by De Havilland, Toronto's Globe and Mail newspaper reported Wednesday.
Greek fighter jet crashes into sea, pilot rescued
A Greek Air Force F-16 (Block 52+ variant) fighter jet crashed into a sea off the small island of Psathoura, in the northern Aegean.
The pilot managed to escape from the single seater aircraft using the ejection system. He was located and collected by a Super Puma helicopter and is being transferred to hospital.

Firefighters stop wildfire at the perimeter of Elefsina Air Base

The funeral of 27-year-old Second Lieutenant Periklis Stefanidis, who died when a Canadair CL-215 firefighting plane crashed during operations on the island of Evia on Tuesday, took place in his hometown of Kilkis on Thursday.
Both Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Defense Minister Nikos Dendias were present for the service, as was an honorary Hellenic Air Force detachment.

Firefighting plane crash kills two pilots
The wildfires raging on the islands of Rhodes, Evia, Corfu and several locations in mainland Greece caused the first human casualties Tuesday.
Two Greek Air Force pilots died on the island of Evia when a Canadair CL-215 firefighting plane crashed near the town of Karystos shortly after 2 p.m., an Air Force spokesman announced.
