Drunk Driving Rate in Bulgaria at 2.5%, Police Operation Reveals

Bulgarian traffic police have intercepted 158 car drivers sitting behind the wheel after having drunk alcohol in just two days, BGNES reported on Tuesday,

A total of 6,325 motorists were tested for drunk driving in a nationwide police operation carried out between 31 July and 2 August, at the peak of summer holidays.

MUP: Agreement with police chiefs in official premises only

BELGRADE - Drivers will be able to make an agreement to admit to an offence from the Road Traffic Safety Law only in official police headquarters, in the talks with traffic police chiefs authorised to file a request to launch offence proceedings, the Interior Ministry (MUP) released on Friday.

Two ex-SDOE chiefs get more time for defense over 'Lagarde list'

Two former heads of the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE), Yiannis Diotis (photo) and Yiannis Kapeleris, were on Wednesday given more time to prepare their defense against charges of breach of trust in connection with the so-called “Lagarde list” of possible tax cheats.

The former SDOE heads were given an extension until September 9, sources said.
