Turkish-Canadian professor appointed to Order of Canada
A Turkish-Canadian senior public servant, lawyer and university professor was officially appointed on Dec. 30 to the Order of Canada, one of the country's highest civilian honors.
Yaprak Baltacıoğlu was Canada's first woman deputy minister of agriculture and served as a trusted advisor to four prime ministers before her retirement in 2018.
Actress Nina Dobrev Arrives in Bulgaria
Canadian actress of Bulgarian origin Nina Dobrev has arrived in Bulgaria. The news was revealed on social networks by fitness instructor Sami Hossney.
The coach thinks he is really lucky, as the actress traveled with him on a plane to Sofia. "I was in the right place at the right time," he said.

One dead, five missing in crash of Canadian chopper off Greece
One person is dead and five are missing after a military helicopter operating off a Canadian frigate during a NATO exercise crashed into the sea between Greece and Italy, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday.
Trudeau said one body had been found, and the five others aboard the aircraft were missing.
"We hold out hope to find the missing," Trudeau said.
