Egypt will inaugurate a "new Suez canal" shipping route in August aimed at speeding up traffic along the existing waterway and boosting revenues, officials said June 13.

Kanal Istanbul, one of the planned giant projects in the city?s pipeline pushed by the government and President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, will be a canal 43 kilometers long and 400 meters wide with six bridges, according to sources.

Bulgaria has proposed to Chinese investors a project for the construction of a navigable canal between the cities of Varna and Ruse, according to Varna District Governor Stoyan Pasev.

Pasev, as cited by Trud daily, made clear Wednesday that a total of three projects for the development of Bulgaria's northeastern region had so far been presented to the Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria.
