Russian Su-30 was in Turkish space avoiding "missile system"

A Russian Su-30 warplane was forced to enter Turkish airspace on October 3 "while performing an evasive maneuver against a surface-to-air missile system."

RT is quoting Russian Air Force commander Viktor Bondarev as saying that the Sukhoi jet was on a combat mission in Northern Syria "in very dense cloud conditions."

Saab, Brazil Seal USD 5.4 B Deal for 36 Gripen Jets

Swedish defense group Saab AB has signed a deal with Brazil for development and production of thirty-six Gripen NG fighters, the manufacturer itself said in a statement.

An Industrial Cooperation Contract to deliver "substantial technology transfer" from Saab to the Brazilian industry was has also been signed between the two parties.

Russia to Open Base for Su-27 Fighter Jets in Belarus in 2016

Russia is going to set up an air base in eastern Belarus and deploy Su-27 fighter jets there, Russian Air Force Commander-in-Chief Viktor Bondarev said on Wednesday.

The air base of the Russian and Belarusian Air Force will be established in Bobruysk in 2016, ITAR-TASS quoted Bondarev as saying during a visit to the facilities under construction.

Bulgaria To Choose New Fighter Planes Within 6 Months

Bulgaria must choose new fighter planes for its air force in the next six months, caretaker Defence Minister Velizar Shalamanov said during an international conference at Sofia's Defence Academy.

The country can choose among three offers - new Gripen fighters, used Eurofighter from Italy or used F16 from Portugal - and according to Shalamanov nothing is predetermined.
