Migrant arrivals in Spain's Canaries smashes 2006 record
The number of migrants arriving in Spain's Canary Islands so far this year has passed the record number set during all of 2006, official figures showed Thursday.

The head of the Slovenian Center for Infectious Diseases, Mario Fafangel, said that the infected person was admitted to the hospital and that he was feeling well.
He emphasized that the risk for the general population is assessed as low.

Thousands Flee La Palma Inferno As Volcanic Lava Licks off whole Villages
Authorities have evacuated about 5,000 people from villages in the Spanish Canary Island of La Palma as lava spews from an erupting volcano, local officials said.
The 15m high lava flow has already swallowed 20 houses in the village of El Paso and sections of roads, Mayor Sergio Rodriguez told TVE radio station on Monday morning (Sep 20).

A volcano erupted on Sunday on the La Palma Canary Island. As a result of the eruption in the Cumbre Vieja national park in the south of the island huge fountains of lava and clouds of smoke and ash were released. No fatalities have been reported so far.

Turks stranded on Canary Islands back home
Turkish students studying in the Canary Islands are back in Turkey due to severe sandstorms on the western coast of the Sahara Desert and the Atlantic Ocean.
The families of students had asked for help on social media from the Turkish Foreign Ministry upon the cancellation of flights due to the sandstorm.
