Police arrest suspect over dozens of car thefts
Police on Wednesday were questioning a foreign national believed to behind the theft of at least 33 vehicles in the upscale Athens neighborhood of Kolonaki and the northern suburb of Maroussi.
The man, about whom no further details were released, was arrested on Monday shortly after breaking into a parked car in Exarchia.
Officers are seeking another two suspected accomplices.

Faced with aging fleet, bus leasing not ruled out
Until a highly anticipated tender for the purchase of new buses to replace the aging fleets in Athens and Thessaloniki is completed in 18 months' time, Transport Minister Kostas A. Karamanlis is not ruling out the prospect of transport authorities leasing vehicles to serve the public in the meantime.

Greece's general secretariat for gender equality said on Tuesday it agreed with a decision by the Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kostas Karamanlis to remove anti-abortion posters from metro stations in Athens on Monday.
ENFIA hike for owners in 3,000 areas
The Finance Ministry is proceeding with the introduction of another 3,000 areas to the system that determines property rates used for tax purposes - known as "objective values." As a result, property owners in those areas are most likely going to see their Single Property Tax (ENFIA) dues jump this year.

Dumped bikes, bicycles to be cleared from Athens sidewalks
As part of its bid to free up public space, the City of Athens is pressing forward with plans to remove more than 800 abandoned bicycles and motorbikes from the streets and sidewalks of the capital.
Some of the bikes have been recorded by the municipality's sanitation and recycling department, others by members of the municipal police and others still reported by citizens.
Open streets
The government's decision to introduce measures that will prevent small groups of protesters from causing traffic jams and disrupting public transport in downtown Athens is a step in the right direction as far as improving life in the Greek capital is concerned.

MP's car broken into; revolver stolen
A car belonging to a New Democracy lawmaker was broken into on Friday in an area near the Acropolis in central Athens.
According to reports, the service revolver of the MP's bodyguard which had been inside the car was also stolen.
An investigation was launched to identify and arrest the perpetrator or perpetrators.
