Gov't signals comprehensive tax reform
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has said there are strong demands from the labor and employer sectors on taxation and that he supports these demands, pointing to radical changes.
"This is an issue we should work on," Yılmaz said after meeting with representatives of the business world as part of preparations for the Medium-Term Program (MTP) to be announced next month.

Environmental tax receipts down by almost a fifth in 2020
Ljubljana – Environmental taxes paid into the national budget amounted to EUR 1.309 billion in 2020, 18.4% less than in the year before. Energy taxes represented more than four-fifths of the overall tax take, while almost two-thirds of total taxes was paid by households.

Supplementary property tax threshold likely to be raised
The adjustment of the property prices used for tax purposes (known as "objective values") and the creditors' strong opposition to government plans to shift the tax burden from owners of small properties to those with large properties is opening the door to a reduction of the burden on those with assets worth over 200,000 euros.
