An Istanbul court has ordered authorities to conduct an analysis at the scene where Berkin Elvan, a boy who died nine months after being hit by a police teargas canister during the 2013 Gezi Park protests, was shot.

Court rejects arrest demand for suspect police officer accused of killing Gezi victim Berkin Elvan

A court has rejected the arrest demand for a police officer who is suspected of killing Berkin Elvan, a 14-year-old who died after being shot by a tear gas canister by police during the Gezi Park Protests in June 2013. 

The police officer, identified only by the initials F.D., denied the accusations, saying that he did not kill anyone.

Security footage has emerged appearing to show two police officers firing tear gas canisters from close range at a crowd during the summer 2013 Gezi Park protests, which hit research assistant Burak Ünveren and left him blind in his left eye.
