Censure

The chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Ludovic Orban, stated on Thursday that all the Liberal MPs are present at the vote regarding the censure motion and will vote in the open against the Executive. "All the PNL MPs are present and all will vote in the open the censure motion. (...) The censure motion will pass!

National leader of the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) Ludovic Orban on Monday warned the Social Democrats, at rule, claiming that any promise of money or public offices made to lawmakers to change their political option on the censure motion is a criminal offence.

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, in eastern Vaslui on Sunday says she has no emotion as regards the censure motion, that is to be debated and voted next week in the Parliament, adding that she counts on the people of good faith who know what stability in Romania means. Dancila said that after the censure motion she will come up to the Parliament with a Gov't reshuffle.

The UDMR (Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania) will back a government centered on the PNL (National Liberal Party) should the censure motion is passed, on Sunday said this political formation's head Kelemen Hunor, in western Arad.

Another seven members of the Parliament have committed to sign the censure motion against the PSD (Social Democratic Party) gov't, so currently the initiators do count on 244 votes, the PNL (National Liberal Party) president Ludovic Orban asserted on Sunday in eastern Focsani.

The chairperson of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, declared on Wednesday that the Opposition "is running away" from its own censure motion, maintaining that it has shown that they do not have enough votes for this document to be adopted by Parliament. "I was surprised to note that the Opposition is literally running away from its own motion.

The censure motion will be debated and voted in Parliament next Thursday, the Joint Standing Bureaus of Parliament have decided. The announcement was made by the leader of PRO Romania, Victor Ponta. He specified that the censure motion will be read in the Legislature's plenary session this week, in Thursday's sitting.

The chairman of the Chamber of Deputies, Social Democrat Marcel Ciolacu stated on Wednesday that "mathematically" the majority in Parliament was lost, through the fact that the day's agenda for the session in which the reading of the censure motion was to take place was not approved. "Mathematically, the majority was lost, today's agenda was not approved.

The Standing Bureaus of the two chambers of Parliament decided on Wednesday, in the absence of the Opposition representatives, that the debate and vote of the censure motion will take place on Saturday, as of 11:00hrs.
