An exhibit of embroidered works made by the wives of foreign diplomats serving in Turkey opened on June 10 in the capital Ankara.

The ambassadors' wives and many guests attended the exhibit's opening organized by the Embroidery Club in Atakule tower, a famed Ankara landmark offering stunning views of the city.

The layers of salt in Lake Tuz, Turkey's second-biggest lake, is diminishing as the water mass of the lake is shrinking, an expert warned on June 6.

"Due to drought, the lake faces the threat of shrinking, as the water has ebbed around a kilometer," Hatice Ünal Ercan told Demirören News Agency.

Tour operators in the Central Anatolian province of Nevşehir reaped the fruits of their efforts to promote the historical Cappadocia region to different markets as direct charter flights from Russia and Ukraine have started to the ancient district.

Artist Hatice Abalı, who lives in the Göreme district of the Central Anatolian province of Nevşehir, has been creating unique artifacts by painting fairy girls on the rocks unique to the region.
