Checkmate! Kosovo Elderly Find Solace – and Rivalry – in Ancient Game

A hierarchy of royal figures occupies two wooden tables placed near the fountain, the so-called Fontana, in the Ulpiana neighborhood of the Kosovo capital, Pristina.

Volunteers organize online chess tournament amid lockdown

Three Turkish volunteer organizers decided to organize an online chess tournament amid coronavirus lockdown.

Seçkin Serpil, a member of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), international chess player Handenur Sahin and FIDE trainer Ali Polatel organized an online chess tournament in Turkey, and they already plan another one at an international level.

Registrations for the World Senior Chess Championship, which will take place in Bucharest over November 11-24, have ended this week, with 350 chess players from 54 countries having registered. The legendary Georgian chess player, Nona Gaprindashvili, ELO 2275, registered in the 65+ section.
