Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on July 13 held a phone conversation with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to discuss steps to improve bilateral relations.

Turkey's Embassy in Beijing has published a guide for Turkish nationals planning to visit or seeking information about China.

Chinese Embassy to Turkey has announced that the country's general-consulate in Izmir was closed as of Feb. 28 due to general arrangements with regard to consular activities. The move comes amid an ongoing row between Ankara and Beijing over the Uighur problem in which the former has harshly criticized Chinese government of assimilating the Muslim Turkic minority.

Turkish and Chinese officials vowed to increase relations between the two countries, especially on trade and tourism, during a meeting in the Turkish capital Ankara on Dec. 28.

Turkey will boycott the upcoming meetings of its representatives with the US ambassador to the country, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

Serbia "feels Turkey as its friend - while we are friends of both Turkey and the Turkish people," President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday.

Vucic made the comments during a joint news conference with Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, held after their meeting in Belgrade.

Turkey's Culture and Tourism Minister said on Sept. 11 that he expects 200,000 Chinese tourists to visit the country by the end of this year.      

A deputy speaker of Germany's parliament stated on May 24 that a parliamentary delegation had scrapped long-standing plans to visit Turkey, after finding out at the last minute that it would not be able to hold talks with officials or visit the Turkish Parliament building.

If the 20th century was about the integration of China into the global economy; the integration of Asia and Central Asia particularly, including Afghanistan and Pakistan, into the global economy is the major project for the 21st century, according to Güven Sak, the head of the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV).

Alexander S. Neu, one of the German parliamentarians who recently visited German troops based at Turkey's İncirlik air base after Ankara granted permission, has said he was disappointed to not be able to meet Turkish government officials during the trip.
