Olympiakos announces hiring of Portuguese coach Martins

Olympiakos announced on Monday its agreement with Portuguese manager Pedro Martins, who is expected in Athens on Tuesday.

The former Guimaraes, Rio Ave and Maritimo coach will take over from the end of the season, with caretaking Christos Kontis sitting on the Reds' bench for the four remaining games of the Super League.

Olympiakos defeated Larissa away on Sunday while welcoming new coach Oscar Garcia and Belgian striker Kevin Mirallas, who aspire to lead the Reds to their eighth consecutive league title. Greek champion Olympiakos Piraeus appointed Oscar Garcia Junyent as their new coach on Friday, just 24 hours after axing former incumbent Takis Lemonis.

The Piraeus giant, who has won the Greek top flight a record 44 times, announced the arrival of the Spaniard in a brief statement on its website (www.olympiacos.org).
