Prince William meets Greek patriarch in Jerusalem

Christian leaders close church at Jesus's burial site in tax dispute
Christian leaders on Feb. 25 took the rare step of closing the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built at the site of Jesus's burial in Jerusalem, in protest at Israeli tax measures and a proposed property law.

Holy Fire touches down in Athens (video)
The Holy Fire arrived at the Athens International Airport at 19.30 and was received with honours of a state leader during a special ceremony. The Holy Fire was lit earlier in Jerusalem where the an official Greek governmental delegation received it and boarded on the Prime Ministerial airplane and flown back to Athens.

It Is Holy Saturday Today
It is Holy Saturday today, the last day of the Holy week before Resurrection Sunday. Holy Saturday, also known as the Easter Eve commemorates the day that Jesus Christ's body lay in the tomb.
On this day the Holy Fire descends from the skies above the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem into the hands of the Patriarch of Jerusalem.

Greek-led team wraps up work at Jerusalem shrine
A team of scientists and restorers headed by National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) Professor Antonia Moropoulou Monday completed a nine-month project for the reinforcement and restoration of the Tomb of Jesus at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The monument, which is among if not the most important in Christendom, will be opened to the public Wednesday.

IN the innermost chamber of the site said to be the tomb of Jesus, a restoration team has peeled away a marble layer for the first time in centuries in an effort to reach what it believes is the original rock surface where Jesus’ body was laid.

(UPD) The thousands of gathered pilgrims erupted into cheers of joy when Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theofillos III of Jerusalem exited the Holy Sepulchre at approximately 2.30 pm, Saturday. The Holy Light was swiftly shared among the elated faithful around an in the Church courtyard. The Holy Light is scheduled to arrive in Athens at 6 pm.
