Transcription Ensemble | Athens | May 10
The Transcription Ensemble - comprising Yiorgos Kandylidis on violin, cellist Christos Grimpas and Nikos Zafranas on piano - will perform works by Alexander Scriabin, Arthur Lourie, Paul Juon, Sergey Prokofiev and Dmitry Shostakovich inspired by photographs of Russian avant-garde art from the Costakis Collection that will be shown during the concert. The show starts at 8.30 p.m.

Leading soprano brings new life to lost Meyerbeer
In the first half of the 19th century, Giacomo Meyerbeer was perhaps the world's most successful opera composer, pioneering on-stage theatrics as he worked comfortably across European cultures.
Meyerbeer's fame faded after his death in 1864. But as part of a revival, German soprano Diana Damrau has released a new album devoted entirely to arias, some obscure, by Meyerbeer.

Purcell | Athens | May 7
Greek countertenor Nikos Spanatis and French-Lebanese harpsichordist and conductor Ronan Khalil will perform works by Henry Purcell in the foyer of the Olympia Theater on Sunday, May 7. The concert starts at 6 p.m. and admission costs 6 euros.

Amazing blind pianist breaks out in tears on stage! (video)
Nobuyuki Tsujii was born blind (due to Microphthalmia) but with an amazing talent for music. He began his formal study of piano at the age of four. In 1995, at the age of seven, Tsujii won the first prize at the All Japan Music of Blind Students by the Tokyo Helen Keller Association. In 1998, at age ten, he debuted with the Century Orchestra, Osaka.
Special concert for Ahmet Kanneci
His is one of the first names that comes to mind when one mentions classical guitar in Turkey. Now, Ahmet Kanneci is being recognized for 40 years of service to the arts in Turkey.

Cameristi Della Scala on stage with Turkish musicians
Famous chamber orchestra Cameristi Della Scala, which was founded in 1982 by musicians from the orchestra of Teatro alla Scala, will take the stage at Istanbul's Cemal Reşit Rey (CRR) Concert Hall on April 24. The orchestra will perform for the first time with a Turkish conductor, Hakan Şensoy in the concert.
Organ Recital | Athens | April 10
Saint Paul's Anglican Church presents a series of special recitals of organ music in the runup to Easter, starting on Monday, April 10, with Colombian organist Ana Maria Ospina and Greek alto Alexandra Aidonopoulou in a concert titled "Adorn Yourself, O Dear Soul." The program consists of a century-spanning medley of Bach to Mendelssohn and Nasi.

Ankara Music Festival opens
The 34th Ankara Music Festival, organized by the Sevda-Cenap And Music Foundation, kicked off on April 4 with a concert by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) at the MEB Şura Hall in Ankara.
To mark the 110th birth year of late composer Ahmet Adnan Saygun, who served as an adviser to the foundation's executive board, the orchestra played his "Ayin Raksı" piece.

Album produced by Fazıl Say on market
Mezzosoprano Senem Demircioğlu and pianist İklim Tamkan's first album, produced by renowned pianist Fazıl Say, was released on March 31.
In the album "İlk Atlas" (First Atlas), Demircioğlu and Tamkan perform poems by Cemal Süreya, Edip Cansever, Metin Altıok and Behçet Aysan.
