Modern Talking soloist comes to Istanbul
Thomas Anders, the lead singer of popular German pop-duo Modern Talking, which left its mark on the 1980s, will perform at Cemal Reşit Rey (CRR) Concert Hall in Istanbul on May 28.
Modern Talking has been one of the most successful German pop projects. During their career, the band released six albums and nine singles, five of which went to number one in many charts worldwide.

Athens State Orchestra & Ryu Goto | Athens | May 13
Japanese-American violinist Ryu Goto (photo) and the Athens State Orchestra led by Christoph Poppen will perform works by Mendelssohn, Paganini and Brahms at the Athens Concert Hall on Friday, May 13. Prices for tickets range from 10 to 25 euros (5 euros reduced). Starts at 8.30 p.m. while an introductory talk for ticket-holders will take place at 7.45 p.m.

A Russian orchestra conducted a concert, dubbed ‘With a Prayer for Palmyra’, in Syria’s ancient Roman amphitheatre in Palmyra, just a few weeks after it was recaptured from ISIS.

Athens State Orchestra | Athens | May 6
The Athens Concert Hall is hosting the Athens State Orchestra in works by Petros Petridis, Claude Debussy and Richard Strauss on Friday, May 6. The performance is part of the ensemble's "On the Threshold of the 20th Century" series. German cellist Gabriel Schwabe, viola soloist Paris Anastasiadis and the ERT Choir will be joining the orchestra on stage.

Soprano Marimel Chrissi and mezzo soprano Lilian Tsatsaroni will perform Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater" at the Idiomelo cultural center in Athens on Wednesday, April 27. Görmez offers replacing funeral march with classical Ottoman hymn
Turkey's Directorate General of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) head Mehmet Görmez has offered replacing the funeral march with Quran verses or an Ottoman hymn during the funerals of the fallen soldiers, as he cited letters from the families of the victims.
