Modern Talking soloist comes to Istanbul

Thomas Anders, the lead singer of popular German pop-duo Modern Talking, which left its mark on the 1980s, will perform at Cemal Reşit Rey (CRR) Concert Hall in Istanbul on May 28. 

Modern Talking has been one of the most successful German pop projects. During their career, the band released six albums and nine singles, five of which went to number one in many charts worldwide. 

Athens State Orchestra & Ryu Goto | Athens | May 13

Japanese-American violinist Ryu Goto (photo) and the Athens State Orchestra led by Christoph Poppen will perform works by Mendelssohn, Paganini and Brahms at the Athens Concert Hall on Friday, May 13. Prices for tickets range from 10 to 25 euros (5 euros reduced). Starts at 8.30 p.m. while an introductory talk for ticket-holders will take place at 7.45 p.m.

Leonidas Kavakos Masterclass | Athens | May 6-8

Greek violinist Leonidas Kavakos leads the 5th International Violin Masterclass & Chamber Music Workshop at the Musical Horizons Conservatory in Athens from May 6 to 8. Athens State Orchestra | Athens | May 6

The Athens Concert Hall is hosting the Athens State Orchestra in works by Petros Petridis, Claude Debussy and Richard Strauss on Friday, May 6. The performance is part of the ensemble's "On the Threshold of the 20th Century" series. German cellist Gabriel Schwabe, viola soloist Paris Anastasiadis and the ERT Choir will be joining the orchestra on stage.

Stabat Mater | Athens | April 27

Soprano Marimel Chrissi and mezzo soprano Lilian Tsatsaroni will perform Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater" at the Idiomelo cultural center in Athens on Wednesday, April 27. The soloists will be accompanied by pianist Dimitra Kakaki, while Manolis Giourgos and Georgia Deligiannopoulou will read excerpts from "Ascesis: The Saviors of God," penned by Nikos Kazantzakis.

Stabat Mater | Athens | April 24

The City of Athens Symphony Orchestra and Choir perform Gioachino Rossini's "Stabat Mater" at the Pallas Theater in Athens on Sunday, April 24. The concert is organized by the City of Athens Cultural, Sports and Youth Organization. The ensembles are led by Eleftherios Kalkanis.
