Pianist Fazıl Say on stage with 'İzmir Suite'
Turkish composer and pianist Fazıl Say will perform "İzmir Suite," a piece he composed in dedication to the 150th anniversary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, for the first time on Oct. 30 at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center.

İDOB to conduct concert in memory of Gioacchino Rossini
The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (İDOB) will open the curtain on a new season on Sept. 28, with a concert organized for the 150th death anniversary of Italian composer Gioacchino Rossini. The concert will take place at the Kadıköy Süreyya Opera House at 8 p.m.
Greek composer Vangelis tops chart of sporting music
Award-winning Greek composer Vangelis has not only found himself in the lofty company of Giacomo Puccini, Gustav Holst and Maurice Ravel, but has also knocked them out of the park after his emblematic theme song "Chariots of Fire" was voted by listeners of the UK's Classic FM as the top selection in the Sporting Music Countdown.

Religious Music | Patmos | August 29 - September 3
Directed by conductor Alkis Baltas, the annual Festival of Religious Music of Patmos is taking place from August 20 to September 3 this year, at the eastern Aegean island's Cave of the Apocalypse, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The roster starts with the Saint Sion Choir from the island of Lesvos in Greek music written in praise of the Virgin Mary.

Rouvikonas attacks business HQ in north Athens
Members of the Rouvikonas anti-establishment group attacked the headquarters of the Mytilineos business group in northern Athens on Saturday night and went on to post a video of the operation online.
In the footage, four men wearing crash helmets to hide their features are seen smashing the glass door and windows of the building's facade before running off in the suburb of Maroussi.

Great Soloists | Syros | August 18
The curtain falls on the 14th International Classical Music Festival of the Cyclades at the Apollon Theater in Ermoupoli on Saturday, August 18. The annual festival hosts artists from all over the world in performances of classical works from chamber music to arias under the artistic direction of Greek National Opera violinist Giannou Margaziotis.
