A guitar smashed on stage by Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain sold for nearly $600,000, several times its original estimate, an auction house said on May 20.

The busted black Fender Stratocaster has been put back together, but is no longer playable, Kody Frederick of Julien's Auctions told AFP earlier this month.

Continuing its Gimme Shelter festival of films about musicians and the broader music industry, on Monday, November 20, Gagarin 205 will screen "American Artifact," a documentary by Merle Becker chronicling the rise of the music poster in the US from its birth in the 1960s. The screening starts at 7.30 p.m.and will be followed at 10 p.m. by "Kurt Cobain: About a Son," a 2006 documentary by A.J.
