7 July is the European Chocolate Day. The date was chosen because at that time in 1550 the first batch of chocolate from America to Spain was delivered. The Aztecs called the cocoa beans a "food for the gods" and used them as a means of payment. The chocolate is one of the most popular foods, and the likelihood of ever getting out of fashion is zero.

Bulgarians consume about 25 tons of chocolate per year, making about 3.5kg per person in our country, show Eurostat data on the production and consumption of chocolate in the EU countries in 2017.

50 grams of the most expensive chocolate in the world cost more than 300 euros. It is made from a very rare variety of cocoa beans, which are 5300 years old. It would have probably disappeared if they were not so enthusiastic people like Servo Pachar.

The price of cocoa extended its biggest weekly rise in five years as a revolt unravels in Cote d'Ivoire, which produces almost half of the world's cocoa beans.
