Smyrna theater set to shine once more after 1,500 years
An ancient theater in the western province of İzmir's Smyrna, currently being restored through dedicated excavation efforts, has the potential to become Türkiye's own iconic Colosseum once fully uncovered.

Göbeklitepe artifacts to be displayed at Colosseum
Replicas of three exquisite stone artifacts from Göbeklitepe, a 12,000-year-old archaeological wonder in Şanlıurfa, were unveiled at the Colosseum in Rome on Oct. 24, where they will be displayed for six months.

Italian archaeologists have uncovered a luxurious Roman home near the Colosseum, boasting an "unparalleled" mosaic featuring shells, marble and precious glass, the Culture Ministry said on Dec. 12.
Rome's Pantheon charges for tourist entry
Rome's 2,000-year-old Pantheon started charging for entrance on July 3, with tourists paying 5 euros ($5) to see Italy's most visited cultural site.
The building, one of the city's oldest and best loved, is currently a consecrated church and part of the proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the diocese of Rome, while the rest will go to the culture ministry.

Roman gate closed after bits of ancient stone fall off

Sewer system found in ancient city of Mastaura
Archaeologists have found a sewer system believed to be 1,800 years old during excavations in the ancient city of Mastaura in the western province of Aydın's Nazilli district.
Experts have been working on the site, located inside a narrow valley and some 3 kilometers north of Nazilli, for the past two years.

New stage in Rome’s Colosseum will restore majestic view
A project to build a high-tech, lightweight stage inside the Roman Colosseum will allow visitors a central viewpoint from within the ancient structure "to see the majesty of the monument," Italy's culture minister said on May 2.
