The island of Rhodes, the “Kállisti” (trnslt. “the most beautiful”) of the Greek cities as ancient historians liked to call it, has long attracted the attention of the world due to its beautiful beaches, rich history and advanced civilization.

Rhodes was a city with philosophical and ritual schools, conservatories, markets, stadiums, harbours and at least 3,000 statues.

The ambitious Colossus of Rhodes project has brought together young professionals from Greece, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom in the hope of reviving one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that had been erected on the Greek island of Rhodes in 280 BC to celebrate the island’s victory of the ruler of CyprusCyprus, Antigonus I Monophthalmus.

Always humble and ever enterprising in life, Francois Michelin is no longer with us.

The 88 year-old Francois held the family company’s reigns for more than half a century, which was enough to turn the medium-sized business into a worldwide colossus of industry which became a hallmark around the globe.
