President Klaus Iohannis on Wednesday attended in Constanta the celebrations occasioned by the Romanian Navy Day, according to a press release of the Presidential Administration.

The head of the state attended the festivities organized on the Constanta coast in front of the Fleet Command headquarters.

For the Russian tourist market we have to propose that the vacation in Romania be an experience, taking into account that Bulgaria has a higher promotion advantage, President of the Federation of Romania's Tourism Promotion Associations (FAPT) Corina Martin stated.

Romania's Black Sea resorts are set to start their 2018 tourist season this weekend, with over 40,000 visitors expected to head to the seaside for the traditional May 1 break.

But local entrepreneurs say they may have a hard time coping with the influx because of the unprecedented shortage of staff.

Over 40,000 tourists are expected during the 1 May mini-holiday at the Romanian seaside, most choosing such resorts as Mamaia, Vama Veche and Mamaia-North Navodari, a press release of the Federation of Romania's Tourism Promotion Associations (FAPT) sent to AGERPRES informs.

Thousands of Christian Orthodox pilgrims from Romania, Bulgaria, and Ukraine were expected to gather on Thursday in a village in southeastern Romania to hear a mass dedicated to the Apostle St Andrew, Romania's patron saint.

The Sun Trains will start off today a new season, with more than 40 trains to provide, until September 15, connections from all over Romania to the Black Sea coast and the Danube Delta, according to the CFR Calatori national passenger railway carrier.

The total freight traffic registered from January to May through Romania's maritime ports - Constanta, Midia and Mangalia - advanced 20 percent year-on-year to more than 23 million tonnes.

President Klaus Iohannis signed on Wednesday the decree appointing Sevil Shhaideh to the position of Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration, with the incoming official due to take the oath of investiture at 17:00 hrs at the Cotroceni Palace, official sources told AGERPRES.

CFR Calatori, Romania's national passenger railway carrier, is selling train tickets with a 50-per cent discount for journeys that start in Bucharest and end in Prahova Valley or Constanta, on Valentine's Day and Dragobete (traditional Romanian love celebration - February 24), CFR Calatori reported on Wednesday.
