Leader of Social Democrat Deputies Alfred Simonis on Wednesday said there is nothing that would justify the removal of the Ombudswoman from office adding that Social Democrats are going to attack the Parliament's decision on Renate Weber with the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR). "There is nothing that could possibly justify the removal of the Ombudswoman, if you looked at procedures.

Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Florin Iordache maintained on Monday, at the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR), that early elections should only be triggered if Parliament is not functioning, not as a result of the political action of the head of state.

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader announced that the notification after President Klaus Iohannis's refusal to dismiss chief anti-graft prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi, will get to the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) on Monday.

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader met in Strasbourg with co-chairmen of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, with the main topic of the talks being the amendments to the laws of Justice.

According to a release issued on Wednesday by the Ministry of Justice, State Secretary Marieta Safta also participated in the discussions with Syed Kamall and Ryszard Legutko.

President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday congratulated Simona Maya Teodoroiu at ceremony in which she was sworn in the office of judge with the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) and told the Court representatives that they represent "a pillar of democracy."

Simona Maya Teodoroiu was designated on Wednesday by the Senate's plenary meeting to occupy a justice seat to the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR), as the position held by former magistrate Toni Grebla was declared vacant, following the latter's resignation.
