“History can not be stolen” and “Bring the marbles back” were written on two banners APOEL’s fans raised during the away game with Tottenham for the Champions League groups.
They also raised one more with a picture of the Acropolis.
The big banners, was a reminder by the Cypriot fans to the Britons of the stolen marbles of the Parthenon.

Restoration work gets under way on Parthenon pediment
Restoration work on the western pediment of the Parthenon temple began Thursday as part of the ongoing project to restore and reconstruct monuments on the hill of the Acropolis.
The project, which was recently incorporated in the European Union-backed Partnership Agreement for 2014-20 known as ESPA, has a budget of 5 million euros.
Refugees visit the Acropolis
Young women from Afghanistan visited the archaeological site on the Acropolis hill on Tuesday on the occasion of World Refuge Day in Athens. The trip was organized by Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou, who welcomed the refugees, all residents of the Schisto reception center, in front of the Parthenon. The young refugees were shown around the site by state archaeologists.
