Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence

A senior Turkish official has described Turkey as the center of future NATO geopolitics and stressed that its contribution to the global peace and stability through the alliance will continue, as Ankara is celebrating its 70th anniversary at the Brussels-based defense pact.

Ljubljana – The Locked Shields 21 cyber defence and strategic decision-making exercise will start on Tuesday in 30 countries, including Slovenia for the first time. The largest and most complex international exercise in the field will in Slovenia also include representatives of businesses.

NATO's annual advanced anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare exercise began on Feb. 22.

The Dynamic Manta 2021 will continue through March 5 off Italy's Sicily Island, the alliance's Maritime Command said in a statement.

The security situation on NATO's eastern flank was a matter discussed at a videoconference meeting of Romania's Defence Minister Nicolae Ciuca and his Estonian counterpart Juri Luik.

At a solemn ceremony with raising its national flag, Bulgaria joined NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence. The Centre is located in Tallinn, Estonia, and currently has 25 members.

Montenegro is to join the NATO cyber defence centre based in Estonia by 2019, to tighten up its cyber protection abilities after coming under a series of attacks in 2016 and 2017.

The NATO military alliance will stand by Turkey if that proves necessary to protect the country from attacks on it by Islamic State, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Oct. 6.
