New Covid shots recommended for Americans six months and older this fall

All Americans ages 6 months and older should receive one of the new COVID-19 vaccines when they become available this fall, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday.

The recommendation comes as the nation faces a summer wave of COVID, with the number of infections rising in at least 39 states and territories.

Pfizer Vaccine is Now Recommended for Children aged 5 to 11

The Commission for Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EDA) has recommended that the use of the Comirnaty vaccine by Biontech / Pfizer against COVID-19 be given to children aged 5 to 11 years.

The vaccine is already used on children that are 12 years old.

Completed Vaccination Course Prevents Severe COVID-19 even when Infected with the Delta Variant

The completed vaccination course, with any of the EU-approved vaccines, provides a high level of protection against the severe course of the disease and death caused by SARS-CoV-2, including infection with the Delta variant of the virus. This was announced by the Bulgarian Ministry of Health.
