African cinema 'could create 20 mln jobs'

Africa's film industry is thriving and could create many millions of extra jobs if its potential was fully exploited, the United Nations said on Oct. 5. 

In a report, the U.N. cultural organization UNESCO said that an estimated five million people currently work in Africa's film industry, which contributes $5 billion to the continent's GDP. 

Innovation Day calls for cooperation between economy, creative sector

Ljubljana – There is a lot of untapped potential for cooperation between the Slovenian economy and the culture and creative sectors, Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek said at an on-line debate held as part of Innovation Day on Monday. The opening addresses highlighted the importance of creativity and innovation in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Power of creative industries

In the 21st century, it is impossible to think about arts and culture without creative industries. Creative industries sound fairly new for Turkey's majority. They are one of the key ingredients of the country's future as it gathers architecture, design, plastic arts, new media, culture and advertising sector and create a new hub for these different sectors to work together.

Bulgaria's Movie Industry Posts Highest Growth in Europe

Bulgaria's movie industry grew by 88.1% between 2008 and 2010, which is the highest growth among the European countries, shows a survey on the economy of the creative sector.  

The survey of the Observatory of economy of culture shows that the sector of creative and cultural industry in Bulgaria is developing rapidly, in spite the general economic downturn.
