City of Iraklio invites tourists to ‘Love HER’
The City of Iraklio (Heraklion) presented its new campaign, named "Love HER*," after the code acronym for its airport, in Piraeus on Tuesday.
The campaign is aimed at further expanding the promotion of the Cretan capital in Greece and abroad.

Cretan food aspires to conquer the world
The 3rd Cretan Products Forum opened on Friday at the Helexpo exhibition center in Maroussi, northern Athens, with Rural Development and Food Minister Lefteris Avgenakis stating that "our ultimate goal is for Cretan products to conquer the world."

Jail terms for 12 kidnappers
A court on Crete Thursday convicted all 12 suspects in the abduction of businessman Michalis Lembidakis in March 2017. They received prison terms ranging from 11 to 26 years and four months.
All 12 suspects were convicted of abduction and attempted blackmail.

Hundreds of tourists stranded as carrier folds
Nordic budget airline Primera Air declared bankruptcy on Monday, stranding hundreds of tourists on the Greek islands and leaving them scrambling for a way to get back home.
"On this sad day we are saying goodbye to all of you," the airline wrote in a note on its website dated September 30.

Aegean Air founder Theodoros Vassilakis dies
Cretan entrepreneur Theodoros Vassilakis, the founder of Aegean Airlines, died on Thursday, aged 78. He was also the man behind car rental company Autohellas-Hertz and car retailer Autotechnica Velmar.

Ryanair to reduce Greek domestic routes, close hub in Hania
Low-cost airline Ryanair announced on Wednesday that it is scaling down its domestic flight schedule in Greece and closing its hub in Hania, Crete, citing high airport charges.
Three arrested at Cretan airports with fake papers
Three foreign nationals were arrested on Monday as they to tried fly out from the airports of Iraklio and Hania on Crete with fake travel documents.
Two men - a Syrian and an Afghan, both 25 - were nabbed at Iraklio airport for using bogus French and Pakistani documents in their bid to board a flight to Germany.
