President Pavlopoulos inaugurates Venizelos’ museum

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos hailed on Sunday the vision and work of former Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos in a ceremony inaugurating a museum dedicated to the Cretan politician.

The building of the museum was the former residence of Eleftherios Venizelos which has been renovated, located at the suburb of Halepa, in the city of Chania, Crete.

Evagelos Venizelos exercised his right to vote at Thessaloniki and said exiting the polling station: “The Greek people will find what they are looking for and what they deserve by using their own efforts, their own work and through unity. Road project protesters searched by authorities in northern Turkey

Local residents who protested the construction of a 2,600-kilometer road project planned to connect upland areas in eight provinces in the Black Sea region have been comprehensively searched with trained dogs by gendarmerie forces in Rize province while heading to a local festival.

Turkish gendarmerie trains staff, soldiers to fight violence against women

Turkish gendarmerie forces have trained a total of 12,000 staff and soldiers on how to combat violence against women in the past two years, one of the projects' leaders has said, adding they had distributed flyers in villages across the country to raise awareness and inform women of their rights as part of the project. 

Venizelos to meet Turkish foreign minister in Thessaloniki

Greek Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos was expected to meet with Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on Friday.

The meeting was set to take place on the sidelines of the meeting of foreign ministers of BSEC member states.
