Government tables revamped criminal code in Parliament, vote this week
The government has tabled the new draft criminal code and the new draft criminal procedure code and both are to come to a vote this week.
The two codes are to come into effect on 1 July.
Unnecessary tension
None of the mainstream political parties would deny that Greece's penal code needs to be seriously update and revised. It is not an issue that needs to turned into a fresh arena of political confrontation.
