The White House scrambled on May 11 to counter perceptions that  the Saudi king's absence from a summit later this week could undermine US efforts to assure Gulf states it remains committed to their security against Iran.

Several people, including Native Americans, have emerged claiming to be legal inheritors of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II. 

Newly crowned Saudi King Salman has refused an invitation to attend a landmark summit hosted by President Barack Obama, amid angst over US-Iran nuclear negotiations.    

AGERPRES special correspondent, Doroteea Purcarea reports: Prime minister Victor Ponta has had a meeting on Thursday with the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Koç University's Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (RCAC) in Istanbul is hosting the exhibition "Camera Ottomana: Photography and Modernity in the Ottoman Empire, 1840 - 1914" between April 21 and August 19.

Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala has held a meeting with Saudi Arabian counterpart Mohammed bin Nayef in Riyadh during with the pair agreed to continue effective bilateral relations under Saudi Arabia?s new ruler, King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud.

The visit and the meeting were announced late on Feb. 15 in a written statement released by the Turkish Interior Ministry.

Saudi Arabia's new King Salman ordered a lavish payout to all state employees on Jan. 30 and reshuffled some top government jobs while keeping in place the oil, foreign, finance, defence and interior ministers.
   

US President Barack Obama landed in Saudi Arabia on Jan. 27 to shore up ties with new King Salman and offer condolences after the death of his predecessor Abdullah.
