A court in Ankara has arrested nine additional individuals as part of a Turkish intelligence operation that dismantled an international cyber espionage network intercepting personal data.

Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MİT) has dismantled a cyber espionage network that had seized the personal data of thousands of individuals worldwide, including Turkish citizens, security sources have said.

Russian hackers piggy-backed on an Iranian cyber-espionage operation to attack government and industry organizations in dozens of countries while masquerading as attackers from the Iran, British and U.S. officials said on Oct. 21.

Cyber crime costs organizations worldwide USD 445B in annual losses, though most of it may actually go unreported.

Those are among the findings of a new research by the McAfee security unit in partnership with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

In an unprecedented, three-year cyber espionage campaign, Iranian hackers created false social networking accounts and a fake news website to spy on military and political leaders in the United States, Israel and other countries, a cyber intelligence firm said on Thursday.
